About this activity

Twelve turbines on the Mzimba plateau, connected to the northern transmission grid. The activity displaces electricity that would otherwise be generated by the diesel plant contracted to cover the shortfall in the dry season, and it is the first utility-scale wind generation on the Malawian grid.

Baseline scenario

Without the activity the shortfall on the northern grid continues to be met by contracted diesel generation at Mzuzu, at the emission factor published for the Malawi grid. The baseline is the continuation of that arrangement for the crediting period.
